unix is so dirrrrty

Dunno why this amuses me but…

who && gawk && uname && talk && date && wine && touch && unzip && strip && touch && finger && mount && fsck && more && yes; yes; more; yes; umount && make clean && sleep

Yep, these are all proper unix commands.

*rotfl* Gotta love unix humour. Must admit one of my favourite books is Unix for Dummies

most women love the unix manual pags (the command to look up a manual page for instructions is man < command > )

    man find
    man date
    man wine
    man mount
    man fsck
    man umount
    man sleep

    You scik fsck

  • May 29th, 2007 at 12:13 | #4

    -bash-3.1$ man scik
    No manual entry for scik

    but nice try ;-)

    Sorry, Geek in training …

  • May 29th, 2007 at 12:24 | #6

When’s your birthday Ray? we can chip in and get you the unix for dummies book

  • May 29th, 2007 at 12:31 | #7

Ray would only be able to truly appreciate Unix for Dummies after a few months of grappling with unix without reading any manuals… (except for man pages)…

For starters, show him vi :)

  • May 29th, 2007 at 12:32 | #8

lol, I dont even use vi,
its edit, nano, pico or joe for me thanks

  • May 29th, 2007 at 12:42 | #9

    vi in a nutshell was a mind-blowing manual…

  • May 30th, 2007 at 08:40 | #10

I had no idea, but now I get why a certain someone in this conversation wanted me to learn unix!
    :P

  • May 30th, 2007 at 09:38 | #11

Haha Danette! You should STILL learn it and I will still offer you free lessons.

  • May 30th, 2007 at 22:11 | #12

Hey, what’s wrong with vi? I mean :wq! is such an intuitive command.

  • Jun 3rd, 2007 at 23:08 | #13

so are commands like grep, wget and my favourite rm -rf

    thats why I love unix

  • Jun 6th, 2007 at 13:06 | #14

cat Unix for Dummies && touch > /dev/myself
Does that make me scik also?

  • Jun 6th, 2007 at 13:08 | #15

    haha Kevin you biscuit.
I am pretty sure you and Patrick and Wayne are pretty familiar with touch >/dev/each other

  • Jun 6th, 2007 at 13:29 | #16

You just had to fsck up this article and mention the Italian…. *sigh* That just calls for a “core dump”.
